| Biography |
| Gordon "Doggie" Kuhn was from Windsor, Nova Scotia. Kuhn had been a senior hockey star in Windsor before he moved to Truro to play for the Truro Bearcats in the mid 1940s. He led them to four tri-provincial titles and Nova Scotia and Maritime Senior Championships.
Doggie was a member of the 1928-1929 Halifax Wolverines, that year's Nova Scotia Championship team. In 1930-1931, he was a member of the New York Americans National Hockey League Club and in 1932 he entered the NHL with a bang by scoring the winning goal in his debut game against the Ottawa Senators. Doggie played just twelve games with the Americans and then continued on with minor league teams.
After retiring as a player, Kuhn coached various teams in the Big Four League in the Maritimes. He went into business in the 1940s, opening a service station in Bedford. He still found the time to referee hockey games at all levels of play, however.
Doggie Kuhn passed away in 1978, but will always be remembered by hockey fans in the Maritimes. He is an original Sport Hall of Fame inductee.
